February 6 declared holiday in Consolacion, Cebu

MALACAÑANG has declared February 6 as special non-working day in Consolacion, Cebu to pave way for the celebration of the municipality’s 99th founding anniversary.

The declaration of holiday was announced through Proclamation 658 inked by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, by authority of President Rodrigo Duterte, on January 23.

“On 06 February 2019, Wednesday, the municipality of Consolacion, province of Cebu will mark the celebration of its founding anniversary,” Proclamation 658 read.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the municipality of Consolacion will be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” it added.

Consolacion is a first-class municipality of Cebu province composed of 21 villages.

Consolacion was first a component village of Mandaue, which was previously a municipality, in the 1870s but became an independent municipality in 1920.

Since 1996, Sarok Festival was held every Consolacion's foundation day.
