Reunions were never like this!

ALL BUNDLED UP. The girls at Central Park.
ALL BUNDLED UP. The girls at Central Park.

HOW did this all begin?

During a routine meeting to discuss details of their coming Sapphire Jubilee (45 years) since graduation, members of St. Theresa’s College (STC) High School Batch 1972, sort of toyed with the idea of having an advanced get-together in the United States? Why not?

So after much convincing, “nagging” and even arm-twisting, it was a go! The core group, led by Nora Abesamis-Redulla, managed to gather classmates from Cebu, Manila, Siargao, and overseas from Germany, Spain, Canada and other parts of the US. Destination? The East Coast: Boston, New Hampshire, New York City. Coordinators were Boston-based Yvonne Chiu-Chern and New Jersey resident Alma Santiago-Ratcliffe. Cebu-based Mayek Briones-Kuhn shared tidbits about Manhattan where she lived for 10 years!

First stop was Alma’s apartment building where she hosted dinner, then it was endless sight-seeing: romping at Central Park, posing at Columbus Circle, a day at the White Mountain area in North Conway, New Hampshire. Why, they even attended Isabel Echevarria’s art show at the Philippine Consulate, where Nora led the singing of the nostalgic STC hymn!

Yup, reunions were never like this. Ask these women: Mayek Briones-Kuhn, Eva Almendras-Olympia, Luz Hamoy-Cutler, Karen Villarica-Neff, Estrellita Suarez-Tiongko, Emma Dira-Mendoza, Grace Cruz, May Tan-Go, Ursula Albulario-Alano, Josie Angbetic-Yu, Marissa Escudero-Puche, Lourdes Olaes-Araneta, Rosemarie Go, Jennifer Paul-de Santos, Sabrina Judilla-Cruz, Roxanne Lucas-Aquino, Juliana Atillo-Schlotterbeck and Jina Dumon-Woodhouse.

In closing, Cebu-based Nora, thanked the Almighty for blessing them with lifelong friendships!
