Hundreds benefit from ‘Magbuligakoy’ in Bukidnon

GOVERNMENT troops and the municipal government of Impasug-ong, Bukidnon turned over a local access road and delivered basic services on separate occasions early this week.

Members of the 8th Infantry Battalion (8IB) and the Impasug-ong municipal government delivered basic services to the residents of Barangay Kibenton last Monday, January 28.

The activity was carried out under the "Magbuligakoy" program of the local government unit, which is a convergence program and initiative of the town officials, in partnership with the 8IB and other stakeholders.

The activity aims to extend the programs of the Local government unit to the communities to continuously resolve issues the military claimed to have been exploited by the New People’s Army (NPA) in their recruitment efforts.

It was conducted during the commemoration of the "59th Aldaw ta Kibenton" celebration where around 350 people benefited from the activity.

The 8IB, local government unit of Impasug-ong town, and officials of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Bukidnon turned over the P6.2-million access road to the village officials of Impalutao, Impasug-ong town last Tuesday.

Mayor Anthony Uy, DILG provincial director Engineer Carmelo Enrique Libot and 8IB commander Lieutenant Colonel Ronald Illana graced the turnover ceremony.

"This is not the last project to be given in barangays of the municipality hence, it is only the beginning, only if we the local participate and help the government on implementing the programs," the military said in a statement, quoting Uy as saying.

For his part, Illana said the local government is playing the main role to resolve issues and problems of the community which is essential in preventing more conflict.

"We are here, your army, always ready to support you," Illana said.

"As we serve the nation through rendering security, our partners in peace building, the key stakeholders are also showing their support. In such way we are able to address the issues and concerns exploited by the enemy,"he added.
