10 minors rescued in beach resort

THE city government's Regulatory and Complaint Board (RCB) rescued 10 minors who were strolling on the beach in Barangay Bonbon, Cagayan de Oro City on Monday, January 28.

The minors were among 13 students, who claimed that their classes have been dismissed and that they were in the area for a school project.

School officials were immediately contacted and the team found out that although they no longer had classes, the alleged project was not a school-sanctioned activity.

The minors were brought to the CSWD Office where appropriate interventions were given by the CSWD and WCPD. They were later turned over to their respective parents and guardians.

The RCB has been strengthening its campaign against unaccompanied minors in inns, motels, hotels, resorts, and similar establishments.

The campaign is based on City Ordinance No. 13394-2018, otherwise known as the Cagayan de Oro City Comprehensive Children’s Welfare Code of 2018.

Upon initial inspection and monitoring, however, the RCB Inspectorate Team found that the business establishments in the area have already complied and cooperated by not accepting unaccompanied minors in their establishments.
