DAVAO Doctors Hospital (DDH) has opened their newly advanced Renal Replacement Center to accommodate more kidney outpatients.

“Lumaki ang aming unit, dati rati 14 lang yung machines naming, ngayon 30 na yung nandito at tsaka lahat ng machines namin mga bago, (We now have a larger unit. Before, we only have 14 machines, now we have 30 and these are all brand new),” Dr. Noel Villanueva, Davao Doctors Medical director, said in an interview with SunStar Davao Tuesday, January 29.

Villanueva added that their dialysis machines came from B. Braun in Germany.

He said that the expansion and advancement of their unit aims to help patients to give them comfortable schedules and stations while they are undergoing hemodialysis.

“Yung technology namin na centralized mixing and distribution of dialysate is the first in the Philippines,” he said, adding that with this the patients will be less prone to infections since the solution will be mixed by a centralized machine and will be distributed to different stations, compared to the old technology where the mixing methods were manual.

“Even though the hospital invested that much, yung price ng dialysis namin will stay the same that we can offer the best dialysis session in every patient,” medical director of Renal Replacement Center Dr. Clarissa Arsolon said.

She added that 15 of their 30 new stations were online hemodiafiltration (HDF) which has more cleaning coverage in blood compared to the regular dialysis.

She added that the cost of the online hemodialysis will only be P300 to P500 higher than the regular price.

She added through the new center they can now cater 90 kidney outpatients daily compared to the previous where they can only accommodate 42.

Meanwhile, DDH president and CEO Raymund CS. Del Val said that their 14 regular dialysis machines will be forwarded to their DDH Dumoy satellite branch.

He added that they will be having an expansion in the area of Mintal and Mandug to bring forth the primary health care to the people.
