RENEWED for Season 2, the DC superhero series Titans calls for actors who are deaf and fluent in the American Sign Language (ASL) to play the role of Jericho.

Rochester/Finger Lakes Film Commission in New York sent out a casting call looking for a deaf or hearing-impaired who are 21 to 24 years old, male, either mixed Latino or mixed Asian, and who speaks ASL to bring the character of Max to life.

In the comics, Jericho (alter ego Joseph William Wilson), the son of the supervillain Deathstroke (alter ego Slade Joseph Wilson), is originally a mute superhero.

He is a member of the Teen Titans who has the power to possess a person just by making eye contact.

While in possession of someone else's body, Jericho can control their physical, mental, and magical powers as well as access to their memories although limited to manipulating a conscious victim's ability to speak.

However for the show, Max, the renamed alter ego of Jericho, becomes deaf after an attack from his father's enemies.

In the casting call description, Max was a kind-hearted soul who never measured up to his domineering military father's expectations. He was a loner who longed for love and acceptance from the people in his life but because of continued bullying and betrayal, he withdrew from the world growing into a young man who now longs to inflict pain on all those who caused him pain.

Clearly, there is much to look forward to on the next season of Titans.

Introduced superheroes like Robin (Dick Grayson), Starfire (Kory Anders), Beast Boy (Garfield Logan), Raven (Rachel Roth), Hawk (Hank Hall), Dove (Dawn Granger), Wonder Girl (Donna Troy), and Robin II (Jason Todd) will surely return for the second season.

Moreover, the mystery of “Subject 13” is definitely going to be uncovered when Titans returns. (Von Daniel R. Plasencia, USC Intern)
