ELECTION lawyer Romulo Macalintal has vowed to work on more benefit for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

Macalintal was accompanied by former mayors Marino “Boking” Morales of Mabalacat City and Romulo “Romy” Pecson of Magalang town when he issued the statement to members and officers of the Pampanga Press Club in Clark Freeport on Wednesday, January 30.

The Opposition's Otso Diretso Coalition senatorial bet said he has been fighting for the rights of the senior citizens for the past six years.

“Before, they only limit to senior citizens card before the senior citizens can avail of their rights and privileges. So I told them dapat kahit anong government-issued IDs,” Macalintal said.

The election lawyer said he filed more than 20 cases against establishments refusing to extend the privileges to seniors who forgot their senior citizens’ cards.

Macalintal also said that seniors should be entitled to 20 percent discounts on items which are under promo.

“If the promo is not approved by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) then the price alleged to be on promo should be considered as a regular price to which the seniors should be entitled discounts,” he said.

“This doesn’t only include the senior citizens, PWDs also benefit from this campaign,” Macalintal added.

He also proposes that if a senior citizen who reaches 70 years old, he or she should be entitled to 30 percent discount on medicines and other medical services.

“When we are 80 years old already, the discount should be 40 percent. And when we are 90 and above, it should be 50 percent,” he said.

Macalintal also asked the seniors citizens to support his senatorial bid.

“Give your last vote for me because you will be voting for [a candidate with] honesty and integrity. I maintained the highest degree of professionalism with my clients,” Macalintal said

“I always tell seniors that they should help me with this because I will soon grow old and fade away but I will legislate laws for you,” he added.
