THE Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) will be covering Davao Region to improve its traffic situation.

Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) chief Benito De Leon told reporters that Davao City will be the priority area in its implementation.

"It is a welcome initiative ng DOTr (Department of Transportation) to improve the traffic situation. One of the focus areas is Davao City since it has a blossoming transport problem," De Leon said.

"Wini-welcome natin ang I-ACT kahit na mayroon na naman tayong maayos na CTTMO, traffic management from DCPO. Malaking tulong ito kasi sila'y makakapag-utos para sa traffic problem sa city at sa iba pang mga lugar sa bansa," he added.

The said council started in Metro Manila coordinated by the Philippine National Police- Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and other force multipliers to aid in solving the worsening traffic situation.

Last January 18, 2019, Executive Director and concurrently DOTr Assistant Secretary Manuel Gonzales coordinated with the concerned agencies in Davao City to discuss traffic situation and the need for its implementation.

CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude said in an interview on Monday, January 28, that there will be another council meeting on February this year for final launching which is tentatively on April.

"Nakita namo na diri sa Davao, naa nama'y gihimo nga initiative for traffic situation. But with this, ang tanan agency ma-involve na ani (We already have this kind of initiative here in Davao, but with I-ACT, all agencies will be involved to improve the traffic situation)," Abude said.

"Dako ni siya og tabang kay dili lang man ni sa city but sa whole region (This will be a great help because it will not be only for the city but the whole region)," he added.
