TO ENSURE the safety and security of all its customers and clients, SM management in Cagayan de Oro City conducted a joint security tactical inspection of all their security guards in their two branches in the city.

The inspection, held on Thursday morning, January 31, was participated by new and current security personnel assigned at SM CDO Downtown Premier and SM City Cagayan de Oro.

“It’s a yearly program wherein lahat ng mga (all of the) front liners, we get together to show that we are ready to serve everyone,” Almus Alabe, the senior assistant vice president of SM's Customer Relations Service, said.

“Kahit saan ka naka-assign (Wherever you get assigned), sa department store or sa mall or sa retail, affiliates or sa supermarket, we act as one, we work together and move as one,” he added.

According to Alabe, the security guards are graded according to the guard force management of the agency, manning, equipment, status of their firearms, radios, and whether they followed the SM uniform code or not.

“Ni-re-review din ng inspection committee yung mga incidents that happened, yung incident management na ginawa. And ang operations kung ano ang kanilang mga comments dun sa performance ng guards at mga respective agencies,” Alabe said.

With the recent bombing incidents in Mindanao and the circulating hoax bomb threat, Alabe assured its customers and clients that their security guards will remain disciplined, alert, vigilant and ready.

“We pride ourselves that our guard force is a well-disciplined guard force. Ine-emphasize talaga namin ang discipline. And kung meron mang mga cases may mga guards kaming nagkakamali, we have the due process and management of those incidents or cases. We maintain ang magandang level of discipline ng aming guard force,” Alabe said.

He added that their security personnel are all trained and will undergo additional training and seminars, particularly on bomb awareness.

“We have so many programs, extra seminars for our guards to keep them updated and give them the additional knowledge to make them confident and vigilant sa kanilang trabaho,” Alabe said.

Apart from the additional calendared training and seminars, SM also has two drills conducted every month to keep their guard force sharp in their line of work.

“We assure our customers that SM Supermalls is ready to serve all our customers. We always ensure that we put very, very hard premium on safety, on security, and making the visit and buying ng ating mga customers to be pleasant. And we always would want them to come back all the time,” he added.
