AFTER the highly-successful Masters Class Chess School tourney at Limketkai Mall, chess action will shift to the City Mall in Barangay Iponan, Cagayan de Oro City on February 10 for the first ever Kuya Kap Inter-School Open chess tournament.

A joint endeavour by the Iponan Barangay Council and Iponan Sangguniang Kabataan, the rapid chessfest is open to elementary and secondary students throughout Northern Mindanao.

“So, we're inviting all elementary and high school chess enthusiasts to come and play,” said tournament arbiter Glenn Escarda.

Events on tap for the seven-round Swiss System tourney with 25 minutes time control and 5 seconds increment are the Grades 1-3, Grades 4-6 and Grades 7-12 categories.

Prizes at stake are P1,000, P700, P500, P300 and P200 for the top-five winners in each categories with the rest of the top-10 finishers out to receive P100 apiece also with medals.
