PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief Oscar Albayalde ordered on Friday, February 1, the relief of two Nueva Vizcaya police officials for their alleged lapses in the investigation related in the killing of National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) consultant Randy Malayao.
Relieved from posts were Nueva Vizcaya Police Chief Jeremias Aglugub and Aritao town police commander Chief Inspector Geovanni Cejes.
PNP spokesperson Senior Superintendent Bernard Banac said the two were sacked particularly due to the mishandling of pieces of evidence that could have been useful for the ongoing investigation of Malayao's murder case.
Malayao was shot dead while sleeping in an Isabela-bound Victory Liner bus in Aritao around 2 a.m. Wednesday, January 30.
Meanwhile, the Police Regional Office-Cagayan Valley released the facial composite sketches of two persons involved in the killing.
It said based on the witnesses' description, the gunman was then wearing a hoodie and a face mask, has fair complexion, medium built, and around 5’4” to 5’6” in height. He is around to 25 to 30 years of age.
The other assailant, on the other hand, who served as the driver of the getaway motorcycle, was then wearing a yellow shirt and brown shorts, has a light built and fair complexion, 5’3” to 5’6” in height, and about 20 to 25 years old. (SunStar Philippines)
