Oro teams win big in football tourney

SEVERAL teams from Cagayan de Oro City won in the city's biggest football festival Rosevale Football Cup held at Rosevale School last January 26.

Among the 102 football teams from all over Mindanao that participated in the tournament, 16 teams from Cagayan de Oro City won in different categories.

Goal FC from Cagayan de Oro won as champion under the Boys U17 category, followed by PJFC from Pagadian City as the first runner up; and Rosevale School B as the second runner up.

In the Boys U19 category, MKIDZ from Malaybalay City won as champion; Holy Cross HS-Camp Phillips Bukidnon as the first runner up; and VAV FC from Cagayan de Oro City as the second runner up.

In Girls U13 category, declared as champion was Bulua; Gingoog Bisons - first runner up; and Higala FC from Cagayan de Oro City - second runner up.

Girls U19 results showed Higala FC as champion; ICFC from Iligan City as first runner up; and Lumbia as second runner up.

The rest of the tournament results are as follows:

Boys U9

Champion: South Shield (from Davao)

First Runner Up: FC Cometas (Rosevale)

Second Runner Up: Corpus Christi (from Cagayan de Oro)

Top 4: Davao Hyenas

Boys U11

Champion: OLLES FC (from Bukidnon)

First Runner Up: Celestial FC (from Bukidnon)

Second Runner Up: Monte Carlo FC (from Cagayan de Oro City)

Top 4: Rosevale School

Boys U13

Champion: Corpus Christi School (from Cagayan de Oro City)

First Runner Up: Higala FC (from Cagayan de Oro)

Second Runner Up: New Camp FC (from Bukidnon)

Top 4: Rosevale School

Boys U15

Champion: Davao Hyenas

First Runner Up: MKIDS (Malaybalay City)

Second Runner Up: Higala FC (Cagayan de Oro City)

Top 4: Bulua (Cagayan de Oro City)

This is the 14th year of the Rosevale Football Cup and according to Dennis Bongocan, the sports coordinator of the school, the number of participating teams has been increasing.

“It was 14 years ago that the school and the parents of the players nag organize sila ng tournament pero maliit lang at ngayon, as the years go by, lumaki talaga,” Bongocan said.
