3 nabbed, yield ‘shabu,’ gun and ammunition

THREE persons with previous cases and on probation yielded guns and illegal drugs when arrested by authorities in Zamboanga del Sur province, the police said Friday, February 1.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified them as the following: Edwin Sungcalang, 39, ex-detainee for illegal possession of firearms; Juan Tampos, on probation; and Gerard Marvin Beduya, 33, ex-detainee for violation of Republic Act 9262 otherwise known as the anti-violence against women and their children act of 2004.

Galvez said the three were arrested at 4:45 p.m. Thursday at Purok Mendez, Sitio San Miguel in Commonwealth village, Aurora town.

She said recovered from the suspects’ possession and control were: two regular-sizes heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth P3,000; one caliber .45 pistol; one holster; four caliber .45 ammunition; five caliber .38 ammunitions; ammunitions for M-16 Armalite rifle; and, P1,000 marked money consisting of two P500 bills.
