Relocation of Benguet police office sought

THE Benguet Provincial Advisory Council is backing the relocation of the provincial police office.

Senior Superintendent Lyndon Mencio, Benguet Provincial Police Office (PPO) director, initially discussed the matter with La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda, who gave two relocation options for the Benguet PPO.

Salda said the forest land located in Puguis and municipal lot located in Shilan were open for the police to use.

At present, the provincial police office is located in the regional headquarters in Camp Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad is seeking its own property to relocate, construct and establish its provincial office and facilities in a bid to effectively function.

The central office of the Philippine National Police allocated funds for the construction of the Benguet PPO Headquarters with the local government unit providing a lot.

After deliberation, the Benguet Provincial Advisory Council through a resolution stated the establishment of BPPO Headquarters in either of the lots is deemed advantageous not only for Benguet PPO but also to the stakeholders they cover.

Salda said prior to the request of Benguet PPO, the municipality acquired a lot in Shilan which is also where the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in La Trinidad would put up its new facility.

The chief executive said the matter has been also forwarded to the municipal local council for their appropriate action.
