LeadCom, Centex programs launched in Talisay

LEADERSHIP communities (Leadcom) programs and Centex Training Institute which will be jointly implemented by the City Government of Talisay and Ayala Foundation Inc. was launched in Talisay City yesterday.

The joint project is implemented through the passing of the Talisay City Sangguniang Panlungsod Resolution No. 2018-145 dated September 26, 2018, authorizing the City Mayor to enter into a memorandum of agreement with Ayala Foundation Inc. for the implementation of Leadcom project.

The MOA covers the implementation of the project for a maximum of 10 community-based/youth organizations or groups in Talisay from March 1, 2019 to February 29, 2020.

Talisay City embraces youth leadership and community development as among its priority development agenda and recognizes the importance of involving the youth in bringing about innovative and sustainable solutions to some of the pressing issues of their communities including disaster management.

Ayala Foundation, on the other hand, is a non-stock, non-profit corporate foundation committed to nurturing communities where people are productive, creative, self-reliant and proud to be Filipinos. As part of its mission, it supports various social development projects in the fields of education, youth leadership, community development, livelihood and arts, and culture.

AFI has developed the leadership communities program which trains and empower community-based youth groups and organizations by helping them design and implements relevant projects that address the pressing problems in their communities.

In cooperation with the Department of Education-Division of Negros Occidental, the City Government of Talisay has forged a partnership with AFI for the development and implementation of Centex Training Institute.

It is a three-year training module for principals, school heads and teachers intended to assist the agency in the development of teacher effectiveness.
