Businessman loses P400,000 in cash to thief

AN ESTIMATED P400,000 worth of cash and other valuable items were allegedly stolen by an unidentified man inside the house of a businessman at Hermilinda Homes in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City Thursday, January 31.

Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, head of Police Station 7, said a 32-year-old man reported to the police that a thief allegedly entered his house at 3:37 a.m. through an unlocked sliding door at the second floor of the house.

The suspect then allegedly carted away a bag containing the said amount of cash, passport, driver’s license, two passbooks, company identification card, and a cellular phone worth P5,200.

The items were stolen from the living room located on the second floor of the house.

Gabana said they are eyeing “inside job” as the possible motive.

The businessman has already a person of interest, but Gabana said the investigation is ongoing. (Christopher D. Yanson, CHMSC-Talisay intern)
