Turrones leads Alberto’s Bowling

THE El Tesoro Turrones grabbed a slim lead after Round 1 of the 11th Anniversary Alberto’s Pizza Bowling Invitational at the SM City Cebu Bowling Center on Friday night, Feb. 1.

El Tesoro Turrones, composed of Micmic Miranda, Jericho and Jomar Jumapao, Jamie and Dovie Sainz and Luke Bolongon, scored a total of 2,562 for the lead. The tournament uses a six-to-play but four-to-count format.

The team scored 843 in the first game followed with the first round’s best of 897 before capping the opening round with 822.

Jericho was the team’s highest scorer in the first game with 217 while Jomar, Bolongan and Miranda added 215, 189 and 162, respectively. It was Jomar’s turn to lead the team in the second game with his 232 while teammates handed 223, 192 and 190.

Jomar continued to pace El Tesoro Turrones in the third game with 201 while his teammates handed 193, 191 and 177.

Jomar and Cynthia Kua of Cetba Ladies bagged the men’s and women’s highest individual score award for Round 1 with 232 and 188.

The San Remigio Beach Club, composed of Tony Ynoc, Roland Bantilan, Ronan Barredo, Noel Tanyu, Rey Velarde and Joe Chu, came up with a total score of 2,500 good for second place.

Rich Banana Catsup (2,496) is at third spot and is followed by the E.O Bucoy Consultants (2,433), the Cetba Ladies (2,354), Jepes Saver (2,354), Five Star (2,223) and the Cetba Juniors (1,918).

The tournament, organized by Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association, will have four rounds and will be played every Wednesday and Friday until March 8. (RSC)
