PRO 7 sends troops to Mindanao

TO BEEF up the security in the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) plesbicite in Lanao del Norte, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas augmented 335 personnel last Saturday, February 2.

A send-off ceremony was conducted in the parade grounds of Camp Ceperino Genovia, Bahay in the town of Sibonga.

A holy mass was also conducted which was attended by PRO-Central Director Chief Superintendent Debold Sinas.

Armed with long firearms, each personnel had undergone the pre-departure briefing which consisted of mission and objectives of the deployment; firearms handling and care; hygiene and sanitary and wellness care; and intel background on Lanao del Sur and cultural sensitivities of the inhabitants of the province particularly the Muslim customs and traditions.

The February 6 BOL plebiscite will be in the province of Lanao del Norte, except Iligan City; the municipalities of Aleosan, Carmen, Kabacan, Midsayap, Pikit, and Pigkawayan, and 28 barangays in the province of North Cotabato.

The military allocated more than 10,000 troops and support units to help secure the BOL plebiscites, along with the Philippine National Police. (JOB/With reports from SunStar Cagayan de Oro)
