CEBU City, from a commercial perspective, continues to evolve as the city draws in new players—including several notable names in the food industry. While this brings in more options, nothing beats that familiar sight; that stomping ground that gives people that sense of familiarity of what Cebu was.

Homebakers, since it started shop back in 1992 on Juana Osmeña St., is one of the city’s most recognizable establishments. This family-owned business first captured the hearts of Cebuanos with its ensaymadas. Eventually, its list grew to include breads, pastries, all-day breakfast choices and desserts.

It continues to grow and make its mark in the city as it recently opened its first mall branch in the south. The new branch is located on the third level of SM Seaside City Cebu and serves both sweet and savory offerings from buns to cakes. Opening the latest shop was a response to requests from its loyal customers living near or within the area, to open another Homebakers branch. Collectively, both branches sell more than 25 cakes daily.

Homebakers has more than 20 different kinds of cakes but the highlight would have to be its Scarlet Cake, a rich and spiffy version of the red velvet cake, which gained a following in the city. Other favorites include its Snickers Cake, Yema Cake, Peach Mango Cake, Ube Cream Cake and its new addition, the Lemoncillo.

Catering to the Cebu market for more than 25 years, Homebakers prides itself in its continued mission to serve new creations while maintaining that homey touch and distinct flavors.

Homebakers’ main outlet is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Monday to Saturday. Its new branch is open during mall hours. Homebakers is currently promoting its new offerings made especially for this Valentine’s Day.
