ABOUT 200 overseas Filipino workers are now permanently working in Central Visayas since the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) was created in 2014.
NRCO Chief Dexter Paro said this is under “Sa Pinas Ikaw ang Ma’am at Sir,” or Spims program. This program provides opportunities to OFWs who are also passers of the Licensure Examination for Teachers to practice their profession as Teacher 1 for elementary and junior high school in various schools in the country.
The NRCO is a government agency under the supervision of the Department of Labor and Employment. It is mandated to develop, promote and implement a national agenda on the sustainable return and reintegration of OFWs.
Paro said the NRCO has the Livelihood Development Assistance Program, which consists of financial literacy and small business management training intended to bring about improved socioeconomic well-being for returning and undocumented OFWs.
The goal of the NRCO is to discourage OFWs from renewing their contracts abroad so they can live with their families.
The NRCO provides reintegration services in the form of livelihood assistance, small business management training and employment facilitation. (EOB)
