Kin mark 21st year of CebuPac Flight 387 crash

FAMILIES who lost their loved ones in the Cebu Pacific flight 387 plane crash over two decades ago have once again remember one of the country's worst commercial flight mishap in Claveria, Misamis Oriental over the weekend.

The provincial capitol officials lead the 21st commemoration of the air tragedy at the Cebu Pacific Flight 387 Shrine in Aposkahoy, Claveria town, last Saturday.

Families and around 500 mountain climbers and town officials joined in remembering the day the plane crashed in Mt. Sumagaya, Claveria, which killed 104 passengers and crew last February 2, 1998.

The half-day activity started with a holy mass at the crash site that was developed into a tourist attraction.

The activity was followed by a wreath and flower offering, tree planting activity and clean-up drive.

"Death saddens us, but it serves as a blessing in disguise too. For how we thought as an ending, may come actually as a new beginning. From death of loved ones, it opens new doors to strengthen families, relatives & friends," Provincial board member President Elipe said.
