THE love month is heating up and lined up are events that you might want to check out.
This Feb. 7 to 10, make sure you are ready for the Dalaguete Music Festival (DMF). Launched just last year, the event aims to be an annual showcase of the finest electronic dance music in the world. The organizer behind DMF 2019, Crazy Panda Entertainment, stated in a press release that the event will bring over “50,000 music enthusiasts” in “the heart of Dalaguete.” The DMF is an Electronic Music Festival in Southern Cebu and takes place during the Utanon Festival, every first week of February. DMF 2019 will be held on the Dalaguete National Highschool Oval grounds. The first three nights will feature local and international DJs, while the fourth night will be headlined by one of the country’s notable Original Pinoy Music (OPM) acts Parokya ni Edgar.
On Feb. 13, Wednesday, chill out to the original tunes by this city’s finest artists. Drop by Bicester Cafe at Mahogany Place, Mabolo, Pope John Paul II Ave., Cebu City for 22 Tango Records’ Cuppa Folk. Cuppa Folk is the record label’s coffee shop series, which features local artists in cafe gigs. The night promises to be a pre-Valentine’s Day musical treat of great coffee and rich storytelling through homegrown music. The artists featured are Alexandrea Alix, Mary Anchit and Wonggoys.
“This coffee shop series is designed to give musicians and coffee-loving music listeners the perfect atmosphere for sharing and listening to songs and stories. The intimate setup allows the artist and audience to be in close range where there can be an exchange of energy and interaction,” stated the press release.
Enjoy the coffee and music but chat at your own risk! 22 Tango Records’ #shhhhpolicy will be in full effect, allowing artists and audience to connect on a whole other level. Show starts 8 p.m.
Last, we have a fun event called “Tinder Story Nights” on Feb. 24, Saturday. The event will be at The Company Cebu Coworking Space on the 15th floor of the HM Tower, Cebu IT Park. “Uhm, what is Story Nights?” you might ask? It’s basically a night out when people can get to hang and chill, while the organizers behind the event have selected “storytellers” beforehand who will share about a particular life topic. This month, the stories will revolve around Modern Love and Dating, Online Dating, Apps and more.
“Story Nights is a non-profit organization that started in October 2015 in Bratislava (Slovakia) by Hon Chong, and has then grown steadily and we now organize storytelling events in Bratislava, Vienna (Austria), Budapest (Hungary), Chandigarh (India), Manila (Philippines), Cebu (Philippines) and most recently, Bari (Italy). Story Nights has created a cross-border live events with storytellers, members and listeners from all over the world,” stated the press release.
