Toy Story 4 trailer launched at Super Bowl

DISNEY'S Pixar drops trailer for the fourth chapter of Toy Story during the Super Bowl 53 last Sunday, February 3.

This year's Super Bowl had both American football teams, the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams, face off against each other at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, Sunday at 6:30 p.m ET.

Just after the New England Patriots won against the Los Angeles Rams, Disney and Pixar dropped a 30-second trailer of Toy Story 4, which shows the fan-favorite cowboy Woody (Tom Hanks) and space ranger Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen). Not only that, Little Bo Peep (Annie Potts) makes a triumphant return to the story.

In the trailer, two new characters Ducky and Bunny are introduced. They are voiced by Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele.

The following Toy Story characters, beloved by fans, who are sure to return are Jessie (Joan Cusack), Slinky Dog (Blake Clark), Rex (Wallace Shawn), Hamm (John Ratzenberger), Mrs. Potato Head (Estelle Harris), Barbie (Jodi Benson), and Ken (Michael Keaton).

Keanu Reeves will be among the cast as well.

However, this fourth movie could likely mark the end of the Toy Story saga.

Last Thursday, January 31, Tom Hanks brought to Twitter a photo with a caption which seemed to be a thank-you and goodbye to the film, saying, “Final line, final session as Woody of Toy Story 4. We rode like the wind, to infinity and beyond. Hanx.”

Hours after Hanks's tweet, Tim Allen tweeted about how working on Toy Story 4 got him emotional. “Finished my Buzz for Toy Story 4 today and it got emotional. Wonderful full body story. You are all going to love the work this incredible team at Pixar created. We are all going to love this story....man its got everything.”

Given Toy Story and Pixar's history of making fans cry during its first three franchises, Toy Story 4 will more likely bring people to tears especially that this will possibly be the end of the beloved toys' journey.

Toy Story 4 will hit theatres on June 21. (Von Daniel R. Plasencia, USC intern)
