THE Davao City Traffic and Transport Management Office (CTTMO) will conduct a traffic simulation on the closure of Daang Maharlika Highway on February 9 to 10 to implement a private company’s project.
CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude said in a phone interview on Tuesday, February 5 that the simulation is requested by Holcim Philippines as they will work on the Kalayaan Project which will require a total closure of the highway.
“Adunay pagahimuon nga installation sa conveyor sa Holcim. I-close lang ang portion during simulation pa lang, dili pa na final. Tan-awon namo unsa ka effective ang among himuon na traffic scheme para sa final closure (There will be an installation of the conveyor of Holcim. We will only close the portion for simulation, it is not yet final because we still have to see how effective our traffic scheme would be),” Abude said.
“Naay gamay siguro na delay pero kaadlawon man pud na. Gituyo na siya na kaadlawon aron dili kaayo daghan ang sakyanan (There may be slight delay but that will be during dawn so there will be less vehicles),” he added.
There are, however, alternative routes prepared on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 6 a.m. for the road closure for all vehicles going Tagum City. While at 2 to 3 a.m. on Sunday, the whole Daang Maharlika Highway will be closed and Holcim compound will serve as its alternative route.
“Wala na ta’y laing makita na alternative, kana ra gyud. Kana pud kay kailangan man pud na sa company nga dapat naa gyud sila’y conveyor nga ing-ana kadako because pud sa demand (We cannot find any other alternative yet. The company also needs that because of the demand in their business),” Abude said.
“We still need approval from the CTTM Board. Once approved, the final date for the total closure will be made,” he added in the vernacular.
Abude further said that in the case where the traffic scheme did not work during simulation, there is a possibility that the CTTM Board and the City Council will not approve the proposed closure.
