Bacolod to continue demolishing illegal structures

BACOLOD City Administrator John Orola said on Tuesday, February 5, the City Government will continue to demolish the illegal structures in different areas of the city.

“At present, there is a continuing clearing of our city streets,” Orola said.

He said Mayor Evelio Leonardia has ordered to continue the clearing operations, removal of illegal structures in streets and riverbanks.

“We also sent legal notices to the affected families so that they will have time to prepare or remove the illegal structures occupying the roads or those who are live in danger zones,” he added.

The affected families will be transferred to the city’s relocation site in Abada Escay in Barangay Vista Alegre.

Orola said the Bacolod Housing Authority is also preparing the relocation area for the affected families.

He said they already removed the illegal structures in Barangay 16 and Libertad Public Market.

Orola disclosed they are also set to clear the Burgos and Central public markets.
