City lauds Tribal Torogi team

A TEAM of youth athletes was lauded by the city officials.

On the move by Youth Council Federation president and Councilor Levy Llyod Orcales, carried by the entire council, a resolution congratulating and commending Tribal Torogi Muay Thai Academy – Team Baguio for successfully winning as gold and silver medalists during the first Northern Luzon Muay Thai championships was approved.

Orcales, who also stands as chairman of the committee on youth welfare and sports development moved Tribal Torogi Muay Thai Academy, organized by its founder and head coach Christian Villareal for the recent win in Sagada.

Tribal Torogi Muay Thai Academy aims to provide opportunities to the youth in the field of Muay Thai and with the advocacy of promoting youth involvement and development through sports.

Team Baguio, comprised of nine athletes from the different barangays in the city competed in the first Northern Luzon Muay Thai championships held in Sagada, Mountain Province as part of its celebration of the first Etag Festival from January 31 to February 3.

“Tribal Torogi Muay Thai Academy – Team Baguio, its coaches and especially the nine youth athletes are the pride of the city and serves as an inspiration to all young athletes to emulate, that representing the city of Baguio in any sporting event locally or internationally brings great joy and honor to their families, their barangays and the city of Baguio,” the citation said.

Francine Jade Velasco, took home two gold medals during the competition while Franklin Velasco, Anthony Tenollar, Von Criss Sally, Jon Ernes Espada, Jeriel Gabe Co, and Mariah Trenyce Co bagged one gold each with Micheal Aspilin bagging home a silver.
