Arroyo to visit Mindanao next week

PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will visit Mindanao this week to inspect projects and check the implementation of different programs under the Agribusiness Mindanao Super Region.

Deputy Presidential Spokesman Gary Olivar, in a radio interview, said the Mindanao Agribusiness Super Region aims to develop and turn Mindanao into the country's food basket.

Olivar said that during the visit, the efforts to achieve lasting peace would likewise be revisited and discussed.

The schedules, however, are still being finalized but among the provinces that the President is expected to visit include Davao and Surigao del Sur, among others.

Olivar said the President just completed the Luzon Urban Beltway super region which was highlighted by visits to different infrastructure projects and investments in the Central and Southern Luzon regions.

Among them are the Batangas Port and Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) projects in Batangas, the North Luzon and South Luzon Expressway developments and private investments like the Hanjin Shipyard in Clark.

The President started in February her Super Region communications campaign which kicked off with the visit to the different call centers and information technology parks throughout the country under the Cybercorridor Super Region.

Olivar stressed that the Super Region communications campaign aims to inform the public about the different legacy programs and achievements of the Arroyo government. (JMR/Sunnex)
