Equipment used to refill butane canisters seized

CRIMINAL Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 operatives seized P1.7 million worth of devices used in refilling butane canisters during a raid in Sitio Libo, Barangay Tayud, Consolacion on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 5.

Four employees were caught in the act of refilling canisters.

They were identified as Pedrito Hermita Octares, 34, a resident of Barangay Santiclan, Danao City; Jerwin Manulat Capuli, 29, who hails from Barangay Pili, Danao City; Elesar Luzon Angus, 27, of Barangay Palanogan, Mahaplag, Leyte; and Daniel Manulat Calvo, 34, of Barangay Sandayong Norte, Danao City.

CIDG 7 personnel seized 13,484 empty canisters and 1,358 canisters filled, not with butane, but with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Other evidence seized were 74 filled 50-kilo LPG tanks, 107 empty 50-kilo LPG tanks, 24 pieces of cartridge-type refillers, five digital weighing scales, 12 portable gas stoves an airtac refiller machine, two air compressors and a multicab. (From AYB of SuperBalita Cebu, KAL)
