QUEST Hotel and Conference Center Cebu celebrated Chinese New Year’s Eve with performances and time-honored dining traditions while ushering in the Year of the Earth Pig.
Guests gathered at the hotel lobby last Feb. 4 where they watched the Cebu Centennial Lions Club perform, beginning with a song number by Jonathan Kevin Lim and followed by an LED Lion dance show, also by the same club. The eye-dotting ceremony took place next, conducted by Quest Hotel’s general manager, Mia Singson-Léon and Gerralyn Lizares, director of sales and marketing.
Capping off the celebration was the Yee Sang, also known as the Prosperity Toss held at the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant Pusô Bistro & Bar, led by some of the hotel’s officers and guests from the media. The ingredients used in the Yee Sang symbolize different things like green apple and lettuce for youth, roasted peanuts and wonton wrappers for a household filled with gold, salmon symbolizing abundance and excess, carrots for good luck and sesame seeds for prosperity in business.
The celebration of the Lunar New Year at Quest Hotel and Conference Cebu continued on Feb. 5 with another Yee Sang or Prosperity Toss, a tradition enjoyed together by families and the hotel’s Chinese New Year dinner buffet serving Chinese cuisine favorites including the roasted Peking Duck.
