Task Force Panagbenga activated

TO ADDRESS potential threats and hazards due to several gathering such as Panagbenga Festival and Philippine Military Academy Alumni Homecoming, the Office of Civil Defense Cordillera Administrative Region (OCD–CAR) has activated “Task Force Panagbenga.”

OCD–CAR recently convened with concerned agencies to discuss security and contingency plans for the two events in a bid to thwart any untoward incident.

The task force was formed on January 31 during the inter-agency meeting attended by representatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Department of Health (DOH), the City Health Services Office (CHSO), the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (Nica) and mostly members of the Cordillera Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC).

It will be on full alert from February 1 to March 10, after the festival’s closing ceremony.

Albert Mogol, OCD-CAR regional director stressed the importance of coordination among agencies and local Government Units (LGU) to avoid any untoward incidents that may occur during high density population events.

Mogol added security and safety of the residents and visitors is everyone’s concern and should be taken seriously specially during high density population gatherings.

CDRRMC members from various agencies concurred with the activation of the task force and will continuously coordinate with the member agencies for the preparation of the annual street dancing and float parade.

An Emergency Operation Center (EOC) will be established at the OCD for the monitoring of the twin events.
