Outreach mission benefits 1,500 people

CLOSE to 1,500 individuals, including children, have benefitted from the one-day medical and dental outreach mission of the Army’s 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion and the Maguindanao Provincial Government.

Colonel Gerry Besana, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) information officer, said the outreach mission was held on Tuesday, February 5, in the village of Tomicor, Ampatuan, Maguindanao.

Besana said of the total beneficiaries, 448 have availed free medical and dental check-up; 25 children circumcised; 10 received hybrid corn seeds; 200 received school bags; 200 received hygiene kits; 211 received slippers; and, 400 received food packs.

Major General Cirilito Sobejana, Joint Task Force Central commander, has expressed his gratitude to the provincial government of Maguindanao for continuously conducting such kind of program together with the military.

“Your armed forces do not only operate on battlefields; we also conduct civil military operations together with our partner stakeholders to help the people in far-flung areas,” said Lieutenant General Arnel Dela Vega, commander of Westmincom.
