TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte -- Davao City's netters annexed the boys team gold medal after sweeping their General Santos City rivals, 2-0, in the Batang Pinoy 2019 Mindanao Qualifying Leg finals at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex Wednesday, February 6.

Andre Kenny Sing eked out a rousing win, 8-1, in the first single while teammate John Roddick Litang subdued his opponent, 8-2, in the second single of the match that was delayed due to heavy downpour.

The team, coached by Allan Jigs Kabigting, is also composed of Christian Nathaniel Angus, who earlier had a flu, and Euriz EJ Tanucan.

Kabigting earlier said he has high hopes with the players who are still competing in doubles and singles events.

"Wala pa namang na-eliminate so far. Mas maayo jud mag-gold pa ang mga players (It would be better if the players win more golds)," he said, confident that the team can still produce a gold or two in the individual events.

The Dabawenyas, mentored by Marivic Salvador Loquinario, bagged a bronze in the team competition.
