TWELVE buses will serve as augmentation buses for Catalunan Grande and Toril areas to aid stranded Dabawenyos during rush hour, the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) said.

"Augmentation bus lang nato na pareha anang stranded ba during peak hours, kanang dili gani kasakay gikan alas 6 sa buntag hantod alas ma-alas 8 dinha sa kalsada (These are augmentation buses to aid the commuters who cannot ride on PUJ during peak hours)," CTTMO chief Dionsio Abude said in a phone interview with Sunstar Davao Thursday, February 7.

Abude added the buses are made to serve the stranded commuters and not meant to replace PUJs.

"Pag walay nay PUJ dihang lugara sa Catalunan ug Toril diha gyud nato i-deploy kay luoy man kaayo ang pasahero muadto sa eskwelahan ug opisina mag paabot og PUJ wala namay PUJ (The buses will be deployed if there were already no PUJ accommodating passengers because there are students and employees waiting for PUJs even though there were already no PUJs in the area)," he said.

He added that buses would be deployed earlier than 6:30 a.m in Toril and Catalunan Grande and earlier than 5 p.m. from downtown to serve commuters going back to said areas. The time of deployment will also depend if there are lacking PUJS for commuters.

He added that he initially recommended deploying six buses in Catalunan and six buses in Toril area but it will be still under observation.

"Naa tay designated bus stop dili parehas sa jeep nga kung naay munaog nga pasahero muhunong pud sila (We have designated bus stops to drop the passengers)," he said.

He added that Toril to Roxas route and vice versa will be having seven bus stops while Catalunan Grande to Roxas route and vice versa will be having around six bus stops,.

Meanwhile, Abude said that they will be having a survey in Mintal and Victoria Plaza to Panacan today to identify the number of passengers based on their destination. They are also considering to operate augmentation buses in Panacan and Calinan routes.
