A 24-YEAR-OLD man was arrested trying to sell the party drug ecstasy to a drug enforcer Thursday night, Feb. 7, on Villalon Drive, Capitol Site in Cebu City.

Elvin Joseph Laput, who hid his face and was crying, was presented to journalists by Regional Director Wardley Getalla of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)- Central Visayas.

Getalla also showed a small packet containing 15 ecstasy tablets and rolled up bills that he said amounted to P25,000.

Based on the Facebook Live coverage of dyRF Radio Fuerza, the PDEA- Central Visayas chief said the seizure of 15 tablets of the expensive party drug ecstasy "is a welcome progress of the drug law enforcement."

He said Laput's possessing the ecstasy tablets indicates that the party drug is proliferating in Cebu City.

Ecstasy is expensive and it's not a street-level drug and therefore not easily accessible, Getalla said.

"It's possible that there are others like Laput who dispose of 15 tablets at a time," he said.

Interviewed by journalists after Getalla had presented him, Laput said "Matoy" sent him out on an errand to take the party drugs to someone.

Matoy gave him P4,000, Laput said.

Laput said he needed the money to pay for his rent of P3,500.

It was the first time he did it, Laput said.

A journalist asked Laput if he had anything to say to Matoy.

"Madakpan sab unta ka buanga ka," Laput said in a muffled voice, still crying.

In January 2019, a 19-year-old woman died of drug overdose after she ingested a party drug during a pre-Sinulog concert. (With JOB)
