BTAO urged to enforce ‘no parking’ policy in Lacson

BACOLOD City Councilor Caesar Distrito urged the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) to strictly enforce the “no parking” policy along Lacson Street from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Distrito, chairperson of the City Council committee on laws, said on Thursday, February 7, the local government is mandated to do all means to maintain sound traffic management within its jurisdiction.

He said last year, the City Council extended the “no parking” schedule along Lacson Street from 7 a.m to 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“The developments currently happening in Bacolod brought about by two things, a significant shift to the rush hours of the city and the increasing number of vehicles regularly plying the city’s main streets,” he added.

Distrito noted that Lacson Street is the busiest main thoroughfare of the city that caters thousands of vehicles everyday ranging from light to heavy vehicles.

“It also has several traffic congestion points particularly during rush hours and among its leading causes are the blatant parking vehicles on the street,” Distrito said.

He said systematic strict enforcement of the no parking policy should be done continuously in Lacson Street so as to prevent stressful traffic congestion and to impose traffic discipline as well.
