A UNITED States-based Kapampangan group, in coordination with the local government of Masantol, Friday, February 8, held its medical and dental mission at the municipal covered court for the benefit of residents.

At least 1,000 indigent residents availed of the free medical and dental services offered by the Aguman Capampangan NW USA (ACNU) as part of its biennial activities aimed at assisting underprivileged individuals.

ACNU president Mina Guinto-Tahayeri said that the group, established in 1996, has been extending various types of assistance ranging from relief operations, distribution of toothbrush, toothpaste and slippers, and scholarship grants to students, among others, across the country.

“We are conducting these social services because we wanted to help our marginalized kabalens in country. We already finished Lubao and Guagua, and we are also flying to Cebu and Davao where many of our kabalens are also living,” Tahayeri said.

“This is the least we can do to help our kabalens who were deprived of basic human services due to poverty. Through our activities, we hope to promote unity in assisting our kabalens who are much need of help,” she furthered.

Aside from the free medical and dental services, various types of medicines were also distributed, while informative video presentations about proper hygiene were shown to recipients.

Tahayeri said that medicines which will not be utilized during the whole-day medical mission will be turned over to the rural health unit for residents to avail for free when needed.

Mayor Danilo Guintu, for his part, extended his gratitude to ACNU for their commitment to help their fellow Kapampangans despite having a privileged and comfortable life with their respective families abroad.

“We are very much grateful to the Aguman Capampangan for generosity to Kapampangans, not only to Masantoleños. Every time we are in need, they are always here to support us and provided our needed help,” he said.
