Chacapna: The public administrator – part three.

BEFORE I will continue Manong Bert’s hot shot story, the boys at Baguio City High would like to thank Leandro Yangot and Atty. Yang-ed for the inspirational messages and for the assistance given to teachers in the recently held basketball cup. Yangot’s party even assured further assistance to Baguio coaches in the upcoming CARAA meet at Apayao.

While he shook hands with me, unaware of who I am, he has yet to make statements regarding social justice programs meant to uplift the economic conditions of public school teachers. That is when he will make it to city hall. But one thing that titillates me is his statement of uniting the Northern tribes to rally with him in that goal as against the Ibaloi tribe of the city. Perhaps until now the Ibaloi are not yet united.

Gone was the day when the chieftain Mathew Carino took courage and seeks out the wisdom of the Supreme Court in the Ibaloi’s claim at Camp John Hay and the injustices at one instance, when the Igorots were discriminated against the trade of Gins or wines. The ibaloi’s are not making this kind of Chieftain anymore.

As a miniscule proof, my better half who is an ibaloi was even discriminated by Ibaloi superiors through the giving of unjust deductions in her RQA points. I just consoled her by joking that her tribesmen are so happy secretly helping the northern tribes by hiring non ibaloy applicants rather than their own kin. There will be more of this story later on.

In continuation, when Manong Bert woke up in his dream, he counted the days left, for him to hang up on his post. He went up on his bed and opened the window and saw how beautiful the sunlight, the fresh air and the flowers around were.

Until his eyes, by coincidence gaze at his lovely better half, steering a cup of coffee for him, preparing an aromatic breakfast and for sure he taught, that shower was already hot, as hot as, when his wife was still young. Lord, he prayed, I wish all the women in this world are doing the same, serving their husband well, taking carefully of their infants and keeping away from occupations – rightfully deserving to men.

Then he went on to imagine, what if he is the one steering a cup of coffee and preparing the shower for his wife, who is about to work as public administrator. What if, all the nations here on Earth are ruled by women, then perhaps no conflicts or war among humans. Probably there are only nations that do not talk with each other, closes their sea and air ports until one nation lowers her ego and reach out for peace on the other side.

On second thought, Manong Bert ponders, was there a woman who will easily lower her ego in times of conflict? It takes days, weeks, months, years, and decades until the end of time just to iron out things. He remembers one instance, when she has this simple tiff with his wife and it took him artful remedies just to smooth out that cloudy relationship. And what more with this simple case that he once handled between a lady principal and several teachers concerning teeny weeny school matters...to be continued
