WHILE most people opted to celebrate Valentine’s Day with their families and loved ones, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte preferred spending it with not one, two or three women.
The city mayor celebrated the Valentine’s Day with 240 women who were members of various organizations of solo parents in Barangay 76-A.
“These are women who are raising their children all by themselves, it is that time of the year when you make them feel special,” Duterte said.
He handed out long stemmed red roses and chocolates to the swooning women. Buffet dinner was also served with night-long entertainment to the delight of the women.
Councilor Mabel Sunga-Acosta also joined the city mayor’s date.
“Most of the women here now either have been separated from their husbands, widows, or whose husbands are in other countries, or those women who have been abandoned by their husbands,” Duterte said.
On Saturday, the city mayor joined the revelries at the Magsaysay Park to welcome the Lunar New Year with the Chinese community. (CPM)
