THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) 7 has announced that license plates for motor vehicles registered between March 2017 and May 2018 can now be claimed.
LTO 7 Director Vic Caindec said they would release 52,120 license plates on Saturday morning, Feb. 9, on the upper ground floor, City Wing, across the H&M store, at the SM Seaside in Cebu City.
The releasing of plates will start at 10 a.m. and will stop at 7 p.m.
Caindec said the distribution will end on Feb. 16.
He assured the distribution would be faster than the first release of more than 23,000 license plates in the last few months.
“We are estimating the whole process roughly will take 10 to 15 minutes depending on the volume of claimants per dealer... we are expecting the process to be much faster,” Caindec said.
A claimant can park his vehicle on the upper ground floor where dealers have employees who will attach the license plates or the motorist can attach the license plate himself.
Caindec urged car owners to claim their license plates immediately as deputized agents of LTO 7 would apprehend vehicles that did not have new license plates. The fine for the violation is fixed at P5,000. (from PAC of Superbalita Cebu, KAL)
