Nurse dies after car hits mahogany tree

A NURSE died after his car hit a mahogany tree on his way home at the boundary of Granada and Alangilan villages in Bacolod City early Friday, February 8.

Senior Inspector Romulo Gepilango, head of Police Station 5, identified the fatality as Dix Ridge Villa, 24, of Barangay Alangilan.

Gepilango said the victim attempted to avoid a gutter causing his vehicle to swerve and hit a tree.

He was also reportedly speeding which caused his car to turned turtle, Gepilango said.

The engine even detached from his vehicle and hit two tricycles parked at the roadside.

The victim’s vehicle was wrecked while the two tricycles were damaged.

The victim was rushed to Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital, where he expired several hours later.

Meanwhile, 20 persons sustained minor injuries after a Ceres Liner bus reportedly hit a passenger jeepney in Barangay Calumangan in Bago City, Negros Occidental Thursday afternoon, February 7.

The jeepney parked at the roadside to unload a passenger when the bus which was reportedly speeding hit the vehicle.

Eighteen passengers of the jeepney and two bus passengers were rushed to a hospital.

Both drivers were unharmed and are currently under police custody, pending the settlement between the victims and the bus company.
