A YEAR after opening a camp in Manila, Spartan Race Philippines opened its second obstacle course camp in Cebu City.

Located at the Crossroads Mall along Gov. M. Cuenco Avenue in Banilad, Spartan Race Philippines officially opened Cebu Obstacle Course Camp (Cebu OCC) on Saturday, Feb. 9 which houses signature obstacles of Spartan Philippines that will allow new and existing racers to play around and train in preparation for the Spartan race activities in the country.

Spartan Race Philippines Chief Executive Officer Guenter Taus, in an interview said obstacle racing has been on the rise in the Philippines.

He saw this personally during the first Spartan Race in Cebu which drew 2,000 obstacle course competitors in June last year.

Spartan Race events feature three distances, namely Sprint, a five kilometer (km) race with 25+ obstacles; Super, a 13 km race with 25+ obstacles; and Beast, a 21 km race with 30+ obstacles.

Cebu OCC offers group classes and conditioning workouts for obstacle race training. The camp will be led by Coach Carlo Sumayang.

The obstacle course consists of bag hoist, lateral wall, monkey bars, and multi-rig, to name a few. The camp will also hold classes like yoga, pilates, TRX workouts, and hit classes, among others.
