Prices of flowers up before Valentine's Day

WITH the upcoming Valentine’s season, the prices of flowers in Bankerohan Public Market increased by more than 50 percent.

On Saturday, February 9, some customers already started inquiring about flower prices. In some stalls in Bankerohan Public Market, some vendors have displayed sample photo albums or flower arrangements for customers.

One of the bestselling flowers, the red roses are priced at P50 per stem which increased from its usual P20 per stem during regular days. A dozen of unarranged red roses are priced at P600. A bouquet of 12-piece red roses, which already includes a wrapper, baby's breath flowers, and other accessories are priced at P1,000.

The next bestselling sunflower ranges from P120 to P150 apiece depending on the size. A bouquet of sunflowers with accessories will range from P500 to P800.

Carnations imported from China is priced P80 per piece, with an increase of P30 as compared to its usual price during ordinary days. A four-pience bundle of Carnation remains steady at P250.

Ecuadorian roses which are also imported ranges from P250 to P400 depending on the color. A bouquet of Ecuadorian roses will range from P1,500 to P4,000 depending on the number of roses in the arrangement.
