El Tesoro Turones stays on top after strong 2nd round

DESPITE a low-scoring output in the sixth game, El Tesoro Turrones managed to stay on top after Round 2 of the 11th Anniversary Alberto’s Pizza Bowling Invitational at the SM City Cebu Bowling Center last Friday, Feb. 8.

El Tesoro Turrones had a low of 667 in the sixth and final game of the second round but that did not affect the overall standing thanks to its 941 and 861 scores in the fourth and fifth games.

The team, composed of Micmic Miranda, Jericho and Jomar Jumapao, Luke Bolongan and Jaime and Dovie Sainz, fired a total of 2,462 in the second round after scoring 2,562 in the opening round of the four-to-count team tournament organized by the Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (Cetba).

El Tesoro Turrones hauled a total of 5,031 in two rounds and holds an 89-point lead over closest pursuer E.O Bucoy Consultants, which is composed of John Galindo, Brian Sy, Joshua Galarse, Docdoc Gothong and senior bowler Joseph Yu.

E.O Bucoy Consultants, a team with a combination of young and veteran bowlers, rose from fourth to second after scoring 2,509 in the second round for a total score of 4,949.

The San Remigio Beach Club dropped to third spot with 2,392 in the second round to add to its 2,500 in the first round for a total score of 4,892.

Miranda of El Tesoro Turrones bagged the highest single individual score among male bowlers with 278, while Sonia Gakenholz of Jepes Saver had the highest score in the women’s side with 180.

Miranda made the day’s best of 278 to set the tone for El Tesro Turrones in the fourth game before Jomar took his turn in the fifth and sixth game with 241 and 169, respectively.

The other teams in the Top 8 are Rich Banana Catsup (4,877), Jepes Saver (4,767), Cetba Ladies (4,673), Five Star (4,553) and Cetba Juniors (3,834). (RSC)
