LEARNING does not stop when faculty members finish the highest degree in post-graduate studies, but it is an everyday activity for professors of the Professional Schools of the University of Mindanao.

This best practice was backed up by series of workshop seminars for faculty members of the university to update them on the latest development in research since last year.

Professional Schools Dean Eugenio S. Guhao, Jr. DM, issued a memorandum order requiring all faculty members to participate in all workshops conducted by University of Mindanao research consultant Dr. Gloria Gempes.

Gempes, an international researcher and speaker, stressed that as professors they still have a lot to learn in research as thesis and dissertation advisers.

It is imperative for advisers to keep on learning, strive for more and be abreast with the current trends in quantitative and qualitative research.

Advisers offered themselves as mentors to master and doctoral students to produce quality research as a requirement to finish their chosen program.

During the conduct of the workshops, Gempes shared her acquired knowledge from rigid training in the country and abroad, which really equipped the participants with techniques in giving the best advice to future researchers using mediating effect, structural equation model, and mixed methods type of research.

With the active participation of the faculty members, Gempes sees that the quality of education and research in the workplace has been given importance.

Learning new trends in research is to ensure that all researches will pass the global standards and will be published in international journals.
