ART is everywhere in SM Seaside City Cebu for the whole month of February, as works of Cebuano artists and artists outside Cebu will be seen and experienced through concerts, performances, workshops and exhibits.

SM Seaside recently launched its Extraordinary Arts Month by transmuting itself into one massive canvas that would display art in different forms in celebration of the National Arts Month. The mall’s Arts Month celebration is in cooperation with the Arts Council of Cebu Foundation (ACCF) and the National Commission of Culture and the Arts (NCAA). The ACCF expanded its vision, and that is to generate awareness and concern for the preservation of cultural heritage. According to Arts Council president, doctor Vivina Chiu, that through collaborations with different art groups and schools, the ACCF is hopeful that “the support of arts will double and the preservation of our cultural heritage will truly be in good hands in the years to come.”

In line with this, SM Seaside, the AFFC and the NCCA will be showcasing activities and events that include the following:

- “Meaningful Harvest” exhibit by South-western University Phinma

- “Scale Model and Visual Arts” exhibit by the University of San Carlos’ School of Architecture, Fine Arts and Design

- Musical concert featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Dingdong Fiel, together with Korean harpist Kyongmin Nam

- Meet and greet of the all-boys choir Libera

- Performances from the Turning Point School of Ballet Performance

- Workshop on creative writing

- Paper engineering and filmmaking with cellphones by NCCA

This year’s Arts Month will culminate through “Sayaw Pinoy” on Feb. 28, a spectacle highlighting dancers from all over country. (Matthew Sulla, USC Intern)
