THE Philippines Nonito Donaire Jr. scored a sensational third-round knockout over late substitute Manuel "Chango" Vargas of Mexico.
This in the main event of the card billed "Latin Fury 13/Pinoy Power 3" Saturday at the Las Vegas Hilton.
The 27-year-old Donaire, called "The Filipino Flash," landed a series of blows to the head capped by a left uppercut that sent Vargas sprawling to the floor for good. The bout ended at the 1:33 mark of the round.
The victory raised Donaire's record to 23-1 with 15 KOs while the loss dropped Vargas to 26-5-1 with 11 Kos keeping his (Donaire) World Boxing Association super flyweight title. (CRAM/Sunnex)
