DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said they give no reconsideration for denied Lingap Para sa Mahirap assistance request due to policy violation.

“I regularly get text messages for reconsideration. Kay siyempre, denied naman sila sa Lingap, naay mga barangay captains and kagawad na naay constituents na nain-ana so mangayo og reconsideration (I regularly get text messages for reconsideration. There are some barangay captains and councilors who have constituents denied of the services so they ask for reconsideration),” Duterte-Carpio told reporters Monday, February 11.

“Ginaingnan namo sila na there is a policy and every time na naa tay preventable accidents na ginatabangan, naa tay terminal patients na makuhaan og assistance (We just tell them that we have a policy and every time we consider preventable accidents, we lose chance to give assistance to terminal patients),” she added.

The banner with the statement, “Drink, Drive and Meet an Accident–No Lingap” became viral over social media last week.

The Lingap Para sa Mahirap is a program of the City Government that provides the city's constituents with medical assistance, food supplements, and burial assistance.

“This is an information dissemination campaign by the City Information Office (CIO), so nakita nato na bisan pa’g nagpagawas na ta og memorandum about sa approval sa Lingap, we still see na naay mga tao na wala nakabalo sa atong polisiya (We noticed that even when we released a memorandum about the policy, a lot of people still are unaware),” she said.

“It is an initiative of the CIO to spread the word further na ‘do not wear helmet and meet an accident, no Lingap’, ‘if you drink and drive and then you meet an accident, you cannot apply for Lingap assistance’,” she added.
