CLOYD Seballos sizzled hot from the rainbow territory with five triples and scored 19 points to lead STI-West Negros University (WNU) to a 101—76 domination against San Carlos City over the weekend at St. John’s Institute gym to give the Junior Mustangs a ticket to the NBTC National Finals next month.

San Carlos City’s playmaker Mike Boniel spearheaded his team to a close 17-23 opening quarter, hitting 11 points but Cyrill Nenecio and Seballos countered with a balanced offense in the second period to extend the lead to 40-31 at the break.

Boniel single-handedly carried his team’s scoring with another 12 points in that span.

Boniel continued to spark his team with 13 more points under his name as they slowly cut STI-WNU’s lead to five points, 56-51, late in the third canto. However, Aldave Dale Canoy fired 12 points to restore STI-WNU commanding lead, 73-55, going into the final quarter.

In the payoff period, Rolando John Ruiz hit 10 points to seal the win for STI-WNU.

Canoy backstopped Seballos with 16 points as Tenecio and Ruiz added 15 and 14 markers, respectively.

Meanwhile, Boniel led San Carlos City with 50 points.

En route to the finals, STI-WNU defeated Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias, 80-76, while San Carlos City outplayed University of St. La Salle, 79-66.

It was a huge win for STI-WNU as they are bound for the 2019 Western Regional Athletic Association Meet this Friday, February 15, in Roxas City, Capiz.
