Zamboanga mayor officiates wedding of 13 couples

THIRTEEN couples tied the knot in civil ceremony solemnized by Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar at the historical Plaza Pershing Wednesday night, February 13, as a pre-Valentine gift to unwed couples.

Forming part of the Love Fest and calendar of activities for the 82nd Dia de la Ciudad de Zamboanga on February 26, the city-government initiated mass wedding was intended to help couples who lack resources to spend for their wedding as well as to help those who have been living together for years to legitimize their bond.

The couples exchanged “I do’s” before Salazar at the garden-like setting at Plaza Pershing, one of the city’s historical landmarks and venue of the month-long love festival, an exhibit of garden supplies and plants, agri products, fashion and arts and food and drinks.

Each couple received a souvenir cake, as each wife received a bouquet of flowers courtesy of Mayor Climaco.
