KAGAY-ANON artist Michael Bacol, together with the CDO Arts Guild, one of the pioneering art group in Cagayan de Oro City, opened an art exhibit called “dRawing” last Saturday, February 9, at the VIP Hotel, along street, this city.

Just in time for the celebration of the Arts Month, dRawing showcased the artworks of the local artists in Cagayan de Oro City who used pens and colored markers from Uni Writing Instruments to create their masterpieces.

“We start from the basics. Before making a big painting, dapat naa tay study. Ang study nato is drawing, mao na gyud na sya. So sketching, drawing, mao gyud na sya. Makahimo ka'g masterpiece because of the drawing,” Bacol, president of CDO Arts Guild, said.

“It starts from the raw, from the basics. Mao na sya ang among ginapahiwatig,” he added.

The art exhibit was participated by 14 artists, namely: Amiemon Godmalin, Christian Loui Gamolo, Esmeraldo Abalde, Emmanuel Mulawan, Errol Balcos, Jericho Valjusto Vamenta, John Andrew Bibal, Michelle Hollanes Lua, Nicholas Aca, Nonoy Estarte, Oscar Floirendo, Oshien Christine Anne Lopez, Ryan Roa, and Michael Bacol.

The paintings, which portrayed different themes such as portrait, landscapes, animals, and personal views and expression on the society displayed in the exhibit were for sale and cost P3,000 to P6,000.

Present during the event was Department of Tourism (DOT)-Northern Mindanao Director Marie Elaine Unchuan who mentioned the DOT's tourism, arts and culture awareness campaign called Art Turismo.

Apart from the dRawing Art Exhibit, the CDO Arts Guild, according to Bacol, will be conducting more activities within this year, which includes: art workshop, more exhibits, and doing public arts.
